Coventry, 2 November 2026: Lodestar Networks has expanded its Coventry core with a new interconnection to DSM (GB) Limited, trading as MyHostingSpace (AS48070), doubling its combined nominal physical uplink port capacity from 10Gbps to 20Gbps.

The expansion brings a second active 10Gbps uplink into service alongside Lodestar's existing Cilix connection. With both links active, Lodestar gains additional capacity, another upstream connection and greater choice over how traffic reaches its destination. Cilix remains the preferred provider for general Internet traffic.

For Lodestar Mobile and Lodestar L2TP, the new interconnect provides a preferred direct path to destinations on DSM's AS48070 network. Routing follows current BGP routes originated by AS48070, extending the preferred outbound path across that network's destinations. The interconnection supports both IPv4 and IPv6 at the network core.

Early testing also delivered encouraging results: average round-trip latency from Lodestar's Coventry core router to MyHostingSpace's Peterborough Ookla Speedtest server was 3.50 milliseconds over IPv4 and 3.55 milliseconds over IPv6, with all 20 test pings completing successfully on each protocol. These core-to-server measurements demonstrate a responsive connection; customer latency also includes the access connection and the rest of the route.

This is a practical step forward for Lodestar's network: two active uplinks, more routing choice and a direct connection to DSM, supporting the continued development of its mobile and L2TP services.

Notes to editors

Two active 10Gbps uplinks provide 20Gbps of combined nominal port capacity. Traffic is distributed according to destination and routing policy, with delivered throughput reflecting equipment and provider service limits. Customer plans retain their published speed profiles.

The new interconnection supports IPv4 and IPv6 at the network core. Customer protocol support follows each service's published specification; Lodestar L2TP's published plans remain IPv4 only.
