Lodestar Networks launches static public IPv4 tunnel service from £3.50 a month
New service brings online ordering, WireGuard support, phone and router setup guides, and connection quality monitoring to customers using their existing broadband or mobile connection.
Lodestar Networks has opened public ordering for Lodestar L2TP, a monthly rolling internet tunnel service that gives customers a static public IPv4 address without changing their existing broadband or mobile provider.
Available from £3.50 a month, the service is designed for people who want a consistent public address for remote access, home labs, self-hosting and other compatible applications. Customers can connect a supported phone or tablet directly, or use a compatible router to carry selected traffic from their network.
A public address for the connection customers already have
Many broadband and mobile connections use carrier-grade network address translation, commonly known as CGNAT, where customers share a public IPv4 address. This can make incoming connections to a home server or other equipment difficult to arrange.
Lodestar L2TP carries traffic through a tunnel over the customer's existing internet connection and assigns a static public IPv4 to the subscription. The address remains the same through ordinary reconnections while the service remains active. Incoming access depends on the customer's router, firewall, application and return-routing configuration.
Two straightforward monthly plans
L2TP 500 costs £3.50 per month and provides a speed profile of up to 500 Mb/s in each direction.
L2TP 1000 costs £4.50 per month and provides a speed profile of up to 1000 Mb/s in each direction.
Both plans support WireGuard, IKEv2 and compatible L2TP/IPsec. They include one static public IPv4, unmetered data, free standard setup and one active tunnel per subscription. Plans are monthly rolling, with no fixed minimum term. The prices shown are the total monthly subscription charges. An existing internet connection and any required equipment are separate.
The advertised rates are speed ceilings. Actual throughput depends on the underlying connection, equipment, encryption and network conditions. The tunnel cannot increase the speed of the customer's existing internet access.
WireGuard and setup guidance for phones, tablets, Linux and routers
Customers receive access to personal connection details and profile downloads through their Lodestar account once their service is active.
WireGuard is supported on both plans, with a personal configuration for compatible phones, tablets, computers and routers. This includes UniFi gateways with an outbound WireGuard VPN Client. The device guide explains configuration import, selecting LAN traffic through a Traffic Route and separate checks for inbound services.
For iPhone and iPad, Lodestar also supplies an IKEv2 configuration profile for the built-in VPN client. Android users can choose WireGuard or the strongSwan VPN Client with a personal IKEv2 profile. Linux and router users should check their exact distribution, model, firmware and supported connection mode.
WireGuard, IKEv2 and compatible L2TP/IPsec configurations provide encryption between the device and Lodestar. Customers select one connection method for their service. Plain L2TP is also available as an explicit unencrypted option for suitable setups.
Connection quality information in the customer account
The online account brings together the assigned public IPv4, connection details, device profiles and access to subscription management and invoices.
Customers can also view connection quality charts showing latency, jitter and unanswered monitoring probes, with CSV export. History builds from real observations over time, helping customers identify changes and interruptions in the monitored tunnel connection.
These measurements run between the Lodestar gateway and the customer tunnel. They describe that monitored path and do not establish the performance of every website, application or device behind a router.
Online ordering is open
Customers can compare plans, check the setup guidance and order through the Lodestar Networks website. Signup includes email verification, with payment completed through Stripe Checkout. Once payment is confirmed and the service is activated, customers can retrieve their connection details from their account and receive an order confirmation by email.

Notes to editors
This announcement concerns the Lodestar L2TP launch. Voice and Mobile remain separate services with their own availability arrangements.
The tunnel service is IPv4 only. IPv6, routed IPv4 subnets and BGP are not included in these plans. Router support depends on the exact hardware, firmware and configuration. A VPN connection on a phone does not automatically provide access to a server on a separate home network. Service terms and the L2TP privacy notice are available on the website.
