Keeping or choosing a phone number

Lodestar Voice is in build and cannot accept a number transfer or provide a new number yet. This page explains what we plan to offer when the service opens.

Keep a number you already use

Moving a phone number from one provider to another is called porting. When Lodestar Voice opens, we plan to accept eligible UK 01 and 02 numbers so a household can keep the number that people already know.

We will confirm the requested transfer date after validation. The transfer will follow the timetable required by the applicable porting process. Some requests can take longer if details need correcting.

How the planned transfer will work

  1. Give us the current details

The name, address and account information must match the record held by the current provider.

  2. We submit the request

The existing provider checks the information and either accepts the request or explains what needs correcting.

  3. Use the old service until the change

The number stays with the current provider while the transfer is being arranged.

  4. Move on the confirmed day

Once the transfer completes, calls to the number will reach the Lodestar Voice line.

Eligible customers will be able to request number porting without a direct porting charge. Porting depends on accurate customer details, validation and industry processes. We will explain the supported number types before ordering opens.

Choose a new number

Every plan is intended to include one UK geographic number beginning 01 or 02. We plan to offer an appropriate area code where number stock is available.

Available area codes and numbers can change. We will show the actual choices when number ordering opens.

What a geographic number means

Numbers beginning 01 or 02 are associated with areas of the UK. The number can ring on compatible devices wherever the Lodestar Voice service has working power and broadband.

You must keep the registered emergency address up to date even if you use the phone somewhere else.
